About 304 Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel is the most commonly used stainless steel in the world. stainless is commonly used in products such as water pipes, storage tanks for liquids, wheel covers and automotive trim, kitchen appliances, decorative trim, nuts bolts and screws and many other products. If your stainless steel application doesn’t call for the added corrosion resistance requirements, like 316 stainless steel, stainless steel grade offers a similar performance at a lower cost.
Stainless Steel is an alloy containing a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. When chromium is added to stainless steel it produces a thin layer of metal oxide over the surface of the metal, protecting it against corrosive materials. stainless is susceptible to corrosion over time from saline environments such as the ocean and corrosive chloride solutions.
