The waterjet cutting process was first invented in the 1950’s but it wasn’t until the 1970’s the newer technology made it more cost effective for manufacturing. Waterjet cutting utilizes high pressure water and garnet for the cut media, and cut run pressures of up to 100,000 PSI. By comparison, PSI on an industrial pressure washer runs about 2,000 PSI.

Waterjets can cut various materials up to 6” including metals, plastics, stone, etc. If it can be put on the waterjet table, it can be cut! Another advantage of waterjet cutting is that there is no heat affected zone, which is great for finished holes that will require further machining, such as tapped holes. It is also very good at cutting small profiles in thicker materials. One of our favorite things about waterjet cutting is that it is a very green process. As a natural element, disposal of waste water is much better for the environment than other processes
